Pretty unique stuff here - only one track is a Dead-written tune; the rest are covers, done so whimsically and with a LOT of fun. Really, ****fun*** is the only word that comes to mind for me listening to this muffled old board. Friend of Mine is easily my favorite (listen to those late harmonies!) but Good Lovin', Jerry singing lead, packs a real whallop into its 4-minutes runtime. BTW, here's the encore, in case you're interested: https://archive.org/details/gd1968-00-00.sbd.miller.97671.flac16
Fuck yeah It's All Over Now! This is one of my favorite Bobby tunes (I'm aware it's a Stones tune) and I knew they played it back then but I'd never heard it until now and this fucking rocks!!!!

I am certainly no expert, but is this recording running slow, or is the band really that sluggish out of the gate?

WARNING! BOOTLEG LIVE RECORDING...use at your own risk.
First 3 tracks have low volume levels. Damned Hippies!
Fourth track (Big Boy Pete) has proper volume levels, a good mix, and high quality recording audio. This song is worth the download itself. WOW!
Good Lovin' is sung by Garcia. Pigpen does sing some secondary lines. Pigpen made it look so easy I guess Garcia thought he could do it?...lmao.
Well, for those of us that were alive and old enough to see the DEAD don't mind the "authentic tape hiss", on the first 3 tracks. The EQ on the computer can clean up the sound, or you can put in a audio program and "clean" it.
"All Over Now" is classic. Don't miss this show.
This is classic 1969 GRATEFUL DEAD. For us Pigpen fans its impossible to give this show any less than 5 stars. * * * * *
Eat, drink be merry and listen to the GRATEFUL DEAD.
Thanks for the love.

Plow through these snippets there is a ton of great '69. This is OK not the best.

Good Lovin' '69
4 star sound, at least.
4 star set, unusual for '69:
Good Lovin' - lead vocal by Jerry, Pig sings back-up this time.
13 minute exploratory He Was A Friend Of Mine, with Dark Star tinged riffs at 8:00 minutes in.
Big Boy Pete is played here in the same spirit if not the same tempo as The Olympics hit version of the Don & Dewey original.
Its All Over Now isn't one they did very often in 1969 either!
So how does it add up to a 5 star rating?
Garcia and Hart joined in the jam with Jefferson Airplane.
See DeadList Project at left for details, and by all means download JA's set for a more complete experience of the concert.
Adding the Airplane to the mix bumps it up a star, for a 5.

Best Big Boy Pete.

A throwaway gig
The band just walks through the numbers with no real musicality. Despite that, Garcia's tone is rock solid, incredibly strong.
